We were thrilled to welcome Dave Wiggins from the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust to our school today to get everyone revved up for an exciting fortnight ahead! Dave led two fantastic assemblies, sharing his passion for active travel and officially launching our participation in the Big Walk+Wheel Challenge, which begins this Monday, 16th March.
What is the Big Walk+Wheel Challenge? It is the UK’s largest inter-school walking, wheeling, cycling, and scooting competition. For the next two weeks, we will be competing against schools across the country to see who can get the most pupils traveling to school actively. It’s all about reducing the number of cars at the school gate, clearing the air, and starting the day with healthy exercise.
Amazing Prizes to be Won! Dave shared some of the "wheelie" great rewards that are up for grabs to keep our pupils motivated:

National Prizes: Schools with the highest activity levels could win equipment for their school, such as new bike sheds or playground storage.

Class Rewards: The class in our school with the most active journeys will win a special prize and our school will be in with a chance to win scooters, bikes, helmets and vouchers.

Individual Recognition: Pupils who show great commitment will be entered into a draw for cycling accessories and certificates.
Dave’s visit has left the boys and girls feeling incredibly inspired. Whether you cycle, scoot, use a wheelchair, or walk, every single journey counts toward our school total.
