📚 World Book Day 2026: Celebrate the Joy of Reading!
We are excited to celebrate World Book Day on Thursday, 5th March. This year, our focus is all about "Reading for Fun." We invite our whole school community to join us for a week of imagination and discovery.
🎭 Dress Up & Share Your Story
To make the day extra special, we encourage all children to share their favourite books by dressing up in one of two ways:
-
Option 1: Character Costume – Dress up as your favourite book character! Please bring the book to school so you can share why you love it.
-
Option 2: Cozy Reading – Wear your comfiest "reading clothes" and settle in to listen as teachers read their favourite stories.
🥔 The Great Potato Book Character Challenge
Get creative! We are inviting all children to transform an ordinary potato into a fantastic miniature model of a book character.
-
Prizes: Awards will be given for the most creative, imaginative and well-presented "Spud-stories."
-
Deadline: Please bring your potato creations into school on Thursday, 5th March.
📖 The World Book Week Readathon
Throughout the week, every class will participate in a Readathon. The goal isn't just to finish books, but to discover the excitement and joy that reading for pleasure can bring. How many stories can your child explore?
🎟️ Don't Forget Your Book Token!
Every child will receive a £1 book token. You can redeem this at your nearest participating bookseller to get a free World Book Day book or a discount on a title of your choice.
🏠 Keep the Fun Going at Home

Thank you for your continued support in helping our pupils fall in love with reading. We can’t wait to see those costumes and potato characters!
