A Fond Farewell to Mrs. Toland – 20 Years of Heart, Humour and Hard Work

30th Jan 2026

Today, we share a very special video as our wonderful school secretary, Mrs Toland, takes one last tour around the corridors, classrooms and chaos of St John The Baptist / Bunscoil Eoin Baiste before beginning her well‑earned retirement.

For 20 years, she has been the calm voice on the phone, the fixer of problems, the finder of lost jumpers, the keeper of plasters, the guardian of attendance notes, and—let’s be honest—the real boss of the entire school. If something needed done, Mrs Toland knew how to do it… and usually had it done before anyone else realised there was even a problem.

Her final stroll through the building brought back memories, laughter, and maybe even a wee tear or two. (We won’t say who cried… but let’s just note there were tissues needed at several points along the way.)

In the video, you’ll see her revisiting the places she has helped keep running smoothly for two decades — from the office where she worked her magic daily, to the hallways where she greeted generations of pupils with kindness, patience, and a healthy sense of humour. Even on the busiest mornings, she had a smile ready and a solution tucked up her sleeve.

As she closes this chapter, we want to say thank you, Mrs Toland — for your dedication, your warmth, your laughter, and the countless ways you helped shape the heart of our school community.

St John The Baptist / Bunscoil Eoin Baiste won’t be the same without you, but we hope retirement brings you lie-ins, quiet cups of tea, and absolutely no phone calls asking, “Is there any chance you could…?”

Enjoy every minute — you’ve more than earned it.

Go raibh míle maith agat, agus bain sult as do chuid ama saor!
💚💛
