Load the Lifeboats - STEM Challenge in P7Q 🚣♂️ 🚢
As part of our ‘Unsinkable’ topic we had great fun completing a lifeboat STEM challenge!
In our pairs we were given a 20cm sheet of tinfoil and were challenged to design and make a lifeboat capable of holding some passengers (marbles). As part of the investigation we were then asked to critically evaluate our designs before being given a second 20cm sheet of tinfoil to make an improved lifeboat to hold even more passengers!
The boys and girls had great fun demonstrating excellent examples of team work, problem solving and engineering.
Most of our designs saw a massive improvement in the number of marbles their boat could hold!
Congratulations to our winning pair - who were able to design a boat capable of holding 53 marbles!
