P7Q Engineering Challenge -Strength in Triangles
9th Oct 2025
Continuing our “Bridge to Ireland” topic, the children were challenged to explore the strength of the triangle when constructing a TRUSS bridge. They used marshmallows and cocktail sticks to create sections of bridge supports (& may have had a little nibble along the way) - it was tricky to create stability but pupils realised that the “x” shape would create 4 smaller triangles and add strength.
We then found out all about the impressive Boyne Viaduct in Drogheda!
The boys and girls are really enjoying these practical engineering challenges with lots of learning and fun along the way!
