We are delighted to announce that we are taking part in the ‘Scoil Spreagtha’ scheme for 2026. ‘Scoil Spreagtha’ is a celebratory, accredited scheme that recognises and encourages the efforts of English-medium schools to promote and increase the use of Irish throughout the school environment. It is delivered by Gael Linn, in partnership with Ulster University and Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin and is funded by the Department of Education and Foras na Gaeilge.
In our Irish-medium classes, the children are immersed in the language every day. Over the past year, the children in English-medium classes in our school have been learning weekly Irish phrases and taking part in some online bilingual singing lessons and have thoroughly enjoyed it. Bunscoil staff and pupils love to hear the language being spoken by adults and children in our whole school environment.
By participating in the ‘Scoil Spreagtha’ scheme this year, we aim to further celebrate, showcase and expand our efforts to promote the use of An Ghaeilge throughout our school community.
